Have you ever felt like you have tried EVERYTHING possible for your hair, but it NEVER seems to make the cut!? Being a Mixed/Bi-reacial women sometimes it is a little tricky when it comes to hair care products. I will list a few options(including photos) that I have been trying with my hair, and will tell you what I do and do not like about the product.
First on the list is the brand Mixed Chicks. I have been using this on and off for about 3 months now, and I am not sure how I feel about it just yet. Stating this, what attracted me to this brand was the brand name because it describes me. I was SUPER excited you to try like many other girls and women out there so I bought it. Now, I will rate this starting with the PROS then graduate to the CONS.
PROS: It moisturizes your curls, controls a lot of my frizz, and I find my curls look really defined and healthy. I also did no feel that the product felt heavy or left a white residue in my hair. I thought it blended well with my hair type.
CONS: The price of these products within the Mixed Chicks brand are anywhere from 15- 25 dollars for 1 bottle. The next Con I would say is I have thick curly hair, so if I were to be using this product everyday I would probably be done with the bottle in little time. Stating this, my overall complaint would be the price and how small the bottle is.
So I have used a couple products with in the Shea Moisture product for a few years now, and I actually like this better than the Mixed Chicks Product line.
PROS: Moistrizes and detangles my hair. Love the way it feels within my hair, and I feel like it doesn’t quickly evaporate in my hair. Meaning that my hair truly stays moisturized for a few days no matter if I happened to skip a day to apply it. It also comes at a good price roughly 10 -12 dollars at most stores. Controls my frizz, and as well as my curls look super healthy when I use this product.
CONS: The only con that I have with this product is only with the coconut& Hibiscus version of this product. The scent does not attract me at all. I also can tell a difference when I use the coconut& hibiscus version of shampoo and conditioner, as I receive a different type of quality of feel with in my hair(but again that could be just me!). So advice, stick with the jamaican black castor oil version!
Cantu, where to start? Now some of you may be wondering why this is even on my list. I chose to add this to my list of hair care products because I was ONE of Many that was applying this product like to my hair daily for roughly 2 years. So its only right to rate!
PROS: This product was majorly affordable and smelled great. Felt it made my hair soft and silky, and it was a great detangler.
CONS: Over the few year of using this product, I noticed once the product had been sitting in my hair for a few days, my hair and scalp became very dry. Now, I know that the reason why is because of the certain chemicals that are used within this Cantu Product like. It has chemicals such as: Cetyl Alcohol, Stearalkonium Chloride, Trimethylsilylamodimethacone, Panthenol, Phenoxyethanol, which are not good for anybody hair! I also DO NOT use this product anymore.
I recently started using this Carols Daughter product line. I actually liked this product as well.
PROS: I felt it made my hair super moist and didn’t seem like I needed much. I also found that my hair felt super Soft.
CONS: It may leave a little residue in your hair once dried.
Overall my list of trial and errors for my hair goes beyond this list. I will post more of the hair care products that I have tried and/ or will try too! I hope you enjoyed my reviews!
