Where to start about this place!? The Sugar Bowl Restaraunt located in Old town Scottsdale is a restaurant that I would recommend to anyone currently living or visiting Arizona. Before I get into my review, and how I even ended up at this one of a kind destination, lets go into a little history of the Sugar Bowl restaurant.
In the year 1958 the founder of the Sugar Bowl (Jack Huntress) decided to open up his quote “BUBBLEGUM PINK” restaurant and ice cream parlor(SugarBowlScottsdale.com).
What is interesting about this restaurant is that it still remains family owned since the very beginning and that it is still thriving in popularity within the community.
After analyzing the huge pink menu you will find that it serves many options of food that you will find satisfying no matter what your mood. They serve soups, delicious sandwiches, hamburgers, hotdogs, or salads. It is also very popular for customers to come in to eat one of the Sugar Bowls scrumptious desserts. They serve your choice of ice cream, sundaes, or a yummy float.
Now, I will go in to the details of how I found the place , and what I ordered. Starting off on the how I found the Sugar Bowl restaurant is my sister Karah. She had been talking about this restaurant for a little while now,so long story short we FINALLY went! When we walked into the restaurant it was equally PINK just as much as the outside of the place was(photo below).
When I look around I kind of got a 1950’s vibe within the restaurant, as I feel they tried to preserve the same look since they opened the Sugar Bowl in 1958. The hostess was eager and quick with a positive attitude to assist my sister and I(which I believe that makes your restaurant!)… I mean who wants to eat somewhere that as soon as you walk in the door the person working there has a nasty attitude??!… NOT ME!.. But anyway back to the subject, as we were being guided to our table the hostess gave us our menus and then quickly left and came back with out my sister or I even asking with glasses of water(AGAIN A+ in my book. especially when you live in the desert).
From there we waited roughly about 5mins and our waitress came to take our order. She was very helpful with any questions we had, and took our order. My sister and I both ordered the Patty melt hamburger, which we both agreed that it was delicious. It came with a choice of potato chips, cole slaw, or potato salad. Once we were done eating we decided to order dessert. I ordered the Buster Brownie sundae, and my sister ordered a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream. That was equally just as delicious as our entree. (pictures below).
The Sugar bowl is very family friendly and they even have a game room that you can go play ski ball or other arcade games. Stating this, I recommend if you live in Arizona or have the opportunity to visit the desert to go experience the Sugar Bowl as you will not be disappointed!
